Celebrities are speaking out in support of a family-friendly entertainment industry, reports Jennifer Mattern for sheknows.com. Eva Longoria and Gabrielle Union have proven that it's possible and positive to welcome babies on set, in the writers' room, and even on the red carpet. "Union, [husband] Wade and baby Kaavia all made a red-carpet appearance last month as a family at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards — a pretty good way to make the point." 

The FAM Committee invites Nickelodeon to recognize and support their own working families by adopting the Animation Guild's Parental Leave Policy during our next contract negotiation. Together, we have the power to build a more diverse and inclusive entertainment industry - we just have to take the first step.

New Zealand Wins the Day!

The world is swooning over a photo of speaker Trevor Mallard feeding a colleague's baby while conducting a session of parliament this week. 

When colleague, Tamati Coffey returned from paternity leave, his son received the VIP treatment. Speaker Mallard's photo with baby sends a strong message to New Zealand and the world - families are welcome here. His gesture depicts an inclusive workplace where parents can feel supported and celebrated.

The Animation Guild's Family And Membership Committee continues to foster discussions about how our industry can incorporate this same spirit of inclusivity. We host workshops on the topics of health and wellness, family leave, member rights, and best practices, as well as family-friendly community-building events.
